The Institute of English Studies is pleased to announce that several new members have joined its Advisory Council following a national call for expressions of interest from academics outside London and those at early or mid-career stage. After interviews, Dr Abbie Garrington (Durham University), Dr Lise Jaillant (Loughborough University), and Dr John Wrighton (University of Brighton) have accepted invitations to join the Council, and Ms Anna Girling, a PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh will serve as the postgraduate representative. Dr Nick Barratt (Senate House Library) and Dr Richard Price (British Library) have agreed to represent the library community.
Following a review, the Institute’s Council was keen to increase membership and reflect the English studies community nationally more accurately. The Institute will soon issue a call for expressions of interest for representatives from outside the higher education sector.
