Institute PhD Student to deliver the Bibliographical Society annual Pollard Lecture

Cynthia Johnston, a PhD student in the Institute, will present the annual Graham Pollard Memorial Lecture to the Bibliographical Society on Tuesday 16th April at the Society of Antiquaries, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1J 0BE.  Tea is served from 5:00 and the lecture begins at 5:30. The lecture is  'Penflourishing in Manuscripts associated with William de Brailes'. This paper will discuss the diverse  types of flourishing employed by de Brailes and his associates and what these stylistic groups can tell us about book production in thirteenth-century Oxford.
