Statement from IES on Covid - 19

Wednesday 18 March 2020

As you may have seen from our website and our social media, the IES has taken the decision to postpone all large events and most of our research seminars scheduled to take place between now and the end of May. Senate House will close at 4pm on Friday 20 March, from this date onwards IES staff will be working from home.

The Institute is aware that working within academia and research can already feel isolating and lonely at times, and so it feels especially important that we reach out to one another now. The IES has always been, and will continue to be, committed to promoting and supporting academic conversations and communities within English Studies. To that end, please do sign up to our newsletter if you would like to receive interesting news and links to articles related to our shared interests.

IES will continue to work for our students and colleagues in the Institute and School as well as for our partners and wider community nationally and internationally as best we can.

Please go to our events page to see which events have been postponed, and be reassured that if you have already registered for an event then we will be in touch to issue a refund for your ticket. The School of Advanced Study expects to make a decision about summer schools in the coming weeks, whereupon we will issue a statement on our website and contact those who have registered.
